Tru-Grit Abrasives Inc - 2026 Comment Period for Draft Interim Action Plan, SEPA Determination, and Public Participation Plan

Ecology invites you to review and share your comments on documents related to the cleanup of hazardous substances at the Tru-Grit Abrasives Inc cleanup site. Your feedback is an important part of this process.


We are seeking public input on the following:

  • Draft Interim Action Plan: This is the plan on how the Port of Tacoma and Ecology will complete the interim action cleanup. It includes the cleanup details, schedule, and permitting requirements. Appendixes of the Interim Action Plan include a Water Quality Monitoring Plan and a Compliance Monitoring and Contingency Plan to make sure state cleanup standards and criteria are met. 
  • State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) Determination of Non-significance: We determined the proposed cleanup is not likely to cause significant environmental harm. We considered environmental, historical, and cultural factors in this process. 
  • Public Participation Plan: Ecology’s outreach plan. It describes how we will inform the public about this site and provide opportunities for public review and comment.
