Williams Northwest Pipeline Compressor Station Upgrades Project
We want your input on environmental review documents for the Williams Northwest Pipeline Huntingdon Connector Project. This includes reviewing a State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) checklist and Mitigated Determination of Nonsignificance (MDNS) form. These documents are used by local and state agencies use to help determine whether a proposed project will have negative environmental impacts.
Proposed project
Williams Northwest Pipeline LLC (Northwest) is proposing the project to increase the efficiency and capacity of Northwest’s existing natural gas pipeline system by uprating and modifying equipment at four of Northwest’s existing compressor stations: Sumas (Whatcom County), Mt. Vernon (Skagit County), Snohomish (Snohomish County), and Sumner (Pierce County). The Project is designed to deliver up to 77.99 thousand decatherms per day (Mdth/d) of incremental firm transportation capacity in western Washington.
The project optimizes fuel usage by uprating and re-wheeling existing compressor units, installing emissions reducing equipment, and providing incremental firm transportation capacity through efficiency gains at the existing Project compressor stations, thereby reducing the fuel and emissions intensity of compressor operations while minimizing environmental impacts within existing facility footprints. All construction activities will occur within previously developed industrial sites, avoiding new land disturbance or impacts to surrounding land uses.
Environmental review:
The SEPA process is not a decision and does not determine whether the project moves forward. It is used as support when decisions are made about the permit and other project details.
