Chapter 173-443 WAC, HFCs and Other F-Gases Rulemaking, Refrigerant Transition Task Force Comment Period
Ecology is initiating a rulemaking process to amend chapter 173-443 WAC, the Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and Other Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases rule. The purpose of the updates to the rule includes aligning with new statutory directives in HB 1462. HB 1462 requires Ecology to form a Refrigerant Transition Task Force, which was created in July 2026. Members of the task force will collaborate to study the opportunities, barriers, and pathways to transitioning Washington’s commercial and residential sectors to more climate-friendly alternatives to the potent chemicals used as refrigerants in products and equipment. We invite you to join us for these task force meetings, which will be available to the public to listen in via Zoom. More information on the task force can be found on our website.
